Nejmilesi Zvuky Prahy/Favorite Sounds of Prague

Světlo v blízkosti vchodu z ulice do Smíchovského nádraží.

A light close to the entrance from the street into Smichovske Nadrazi. This light buzzes sort of like a sawtooth wave and when you move your head back and forth or walk under it, you can really hear how your body interferes and filters the sound. I tried to capture this in the recorder.

As soon as I finished the recording, I was accosted by a very large and angry man with a mustache. I have no idea what he was upset about, but I left quickly.

It took me a very long time but I finally managed to contribute something to the fascinating collection of sonic experiences that is the Favorite Sounds of Prague Website.

This website is a great resource for all things phonological and it is highly recommended for people interested in field recording, sound art, listening, acoustic ecology, urban and rural environments, existence, consciousness, perception and the rest of it.

Czech language version linked to above, English version is here. Or click the “en” tab below the menu on the left if that doesn’t work.  Happy listening!
