Core of the Coalman

Jorge Boehringer’s solo project Core of the Coalman, is an open sketchbook, a collection of noises and patterns in process.  Tonight’s performance is a new piece, Waterfall Effect, and some of it goes like this:

e.g., rivers,

an apparent velocity equal to that of

the descending water

especially those which flow very rapidly,

they find that

the visual stimulations

still present themselves,

nothing else.

CHING-FANG WU aka Cyanching Wu – https://soundcloud.com/cyanching

Ching-Fang Wu is a Taiwanese composer finishing her undergraduate study this summer. Most of the time, the inspiration behind her pieces are associated with historical fact, social observation, political contradiction and psychological states. For Ching, the composition is not merely about the sonic aesthetic, but more about the representation of voices from different aspects that she is concerned with. In her composition, Ching focuses on bringing the intricacies of sounds from daily life to the surface and transforming them into new shapes, which is how she began to sneak hidden meanings into her work. Apart from her composition, Ching scored for short films in Taiwan. In 2016, she took part in an experimental dance theatre, Un Pays Lointain, for sound design and original music, that also exhibited in Sibu International Dance Festival in Malaysia. Her recent project focuses on sampling music elements hidden with music she listens to every day, and applying minimalist aesthetic that she found, along with repetition and the emphasis of subtlety, helps her to articulate her political language.
